NORFOLK, VA - Holland Pump and Virginia Equipment and Development Company teamed up to complete the expansion of the American Freightways Terminal in Virginia Beach. One of the challenges the contractor faced while installing a storm water collection box at a depth of 20' was working around a busy and active terminal. As the contractor started to dig into the asphalt they ran into unexpected water and called in Holland Pump's Norfolk branch to assist with the job.
Holland's new 8" Rotary Wellpoint Pump was used on the job and included: 6" header pipe, and 20 foot self-jetting points with adjustable, clear swings which provided visibility of the water being pumped. Also used were Holland designed header jacks, which fit onto the points for added support and prevents header collapse. The amount of water surprised Utility Supervisor, Mark Burkett but Burkett was very pleased at the speed and consistent pumping volume of Holland's rotary wellpoint pump. Virginia Equipment and Development Company was able to move forward on the job within 24 hours of having Holland's Rotary Wellpoint System on the job.
